Storage Conditions

Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.

Humidity: The effects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the effects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.

Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.

The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

  1. A Must Have

If you are a camper you must have these eggs; they require no refrigeration. If your kids love to eat cookie dough you must have these eggs; no problem with salmonella. I you love fritatas and omelets you must have these eggs; they are so fluffy and yummy. If you love to bake you must have these eggs; I have made cakes, cookies, banana breads and they are wonderful. You can either put the dry powder with the dry ingredients and the water with the moist or you can mix the powder and water together and add as an egg. Fantastic product!

  2. Surprisingly Good!

I heard that this egg powder was great for cooking, but I was curious to see how it would taste to make scrambled eggs out of them. They were great! EXACT texture of real eggs when reconstituted with the correct amount of water, and I added some TVP ham into them as well. My husband is pretty picky, but he said they were good even though they tasted slightly different. Made egg sandwiches from the leftovers! Yum

  3. Very Good! Impressive!

I enjoyed the powdered eggs! Excellent taste. I purchased them to use in pancakes, cakes, breads, waffles, and other recipes that call for eggs. Although, I am sure they are great cooked and eaten as eggs. I used them in hamburgers last week instead of cracking a fresh egg open for the hamburgers. I didn't add any extra water and the hamburgers turned out delicious!

  4. Great

I just got my order and had to try the eggs scrambled. I must say they are good. I really was so supprised and don't think I will ever by fresh eggs again. Thanks so much

  5. Smaller than normal eggs, flavor is good, easy and quick to use

They say it has over 250 eggs in each #10 can, which I'm sure is the measurement when substituting powdered eggs for baking, but if you want to scramble them, 1 Tablespoon of powder and 2 Tbsp of water is a much smaller serving than a normal fresh egg.

Through trial and error I found that to serve my 2 children scrambled eggs for breakfast I need to use a half cup of powder and about a cup of water. Some water will cook out and need to be drained.

They taste like powdered eggs, which is no surprise since they are! But anyone who has been in the army, or frequented hotel breakfast buffets, knows that there are different levels of quality with powdered eggs. These are better than most.

I doubt they can be used easily to make omlettes, quiches, souflees and certain other dishes.

However, as someone who values ease of use and time not wasted, I plan to use these eggs instead of buying fresh eggs for my scrambling and baking needs.

Other things I like: they don't rot, they don't require refrigeration or take up refrigerator space (or cooler space for camping).

  6. excellent for camping

I will never pack fresh (highly breakable) eggs for camping trips again. These are every bit as good and you can't break powdered eggs.

  7. you have to try this!

I was very happy with the eggs. A #10 can is 19 dozen of eggs. When you figure it out it is a little over 3 dozen eggs a month....who doesn't use that!
